Welcome to the web site of the Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh; we meet every Tuesday evening - subject to occasional scatter visits - at the Senior Common Room, Reading University. Our meetings start at 8pm and our President always looks forward to welcoming our visitors from 7:30pm in the bar.

What is Rotary - Founded in 1905 Rotary is an international voluntary organisation consisting of over 1.2 million men and women worldwide who co-operate as a global team to alleviate or resolve suffering, hardship and deprivation regardless of race, religion, culture or political inclination. Complementing this commitment to local, national and international service, Rotarians live by a code of high ethical standards and carry the creed of international goodwill and peace throughout all aspects of their personal, business and community lives.

As for Reading Maiden Erlegh - The Club was formed in September 1988 and its Charter was presented on 16th May 1989; it isWaterwheel and swan banner of Reading Maiden Erlegh Rotary Club one of seven Rotary Clubs in the Reading area and originally had 37 founder members - the membership is currently 55. The emblem of the Club - pictured right - includes a water wheel commemorating the old flour mill which stood on the site of the present Reading Moat House Hotel at Mill Lane, Sindlesham and a black swan which was once a regular visitor to the nearby River Loddon.
